Lady Gaga Receives Peace Award From Yoko Ono

RUSSIAN ROCKERS PUSSY RIOT WERE ALSO AWARDED LENNONONO GRANT FOR PEACE.

Lady Gaga made a special stop on her Born This Way Ball on Tuesday when she attended a ceremony in Reykjavik, Iceland held in her honor. The singer appeared alongside Yoko Ono to accept her LennonOno Grant for Peace.

Gaga was honored for a number of charitable properties, including her Born This Way Foundation, and most recently, her Body Revolution 2013 campaign, which empowers her fans to embrace who they are, flaws and all.

"Lady Gaga is in a position of #1 as a singer/songwriter," Ono told Reuters Television about bestowing the honor on Gaga. "And when you are #1, you don't want to risk yourself. And she did."

Wearing a demure, ruffled beige dress, black blazer and big hat, the singer was not only gifted with a puzzle piece-shaped trophy for her philanthropic work, but also $50,000. And, she knew just how she was going to spend it.

"I'm supremely honored to accept this grant and award today on behalf of youth empowerment around the world. I will be donating this grant to the Elton John AIDS Foundation and I will be working closely with them to ensure that the money goes specifically to those orphans and disadvantaged youth in America born with HIV or AIDS," she said in video posted online, later adding, "I dare you to be compassionate in a cynical age." Russian rockers Pussy Riot were also honored by Ono for their own outspoken activism this year. On Wednesday morning (October 10), a Moscow City judge upheld the two-year jail sentences for Pussy Riot members Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina, while Yekaterina Samutsevich was issued a suspended sentence following a February incident in which the group performed a "punk prayer" in Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Saviour.

As Gaga noted during her speech in Iceland on Tuesday, she grew up only blocks away from Ono and her son with late Beatle John Lennon, Sean, in New York City. In July 2010, she was photographed at their apartment playing the musician's famed white piano. Gaga also played with Yoko Ono's Plastic Ono Band at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles later that year.

Lady Gaga wears Hedi Slimane's spring Saint Laurent collection

Lady Gaga, who sided with designer Hedi Slimane in his dustup with New York Times fashion critic Cathy Horyn, has been seen wearing two different looks from his Spring-Summer 2013 Saint Laurent women's wear collection since it was shown on the runway a little more than a week ago. One is the long yellow dress and jacket she wore on Tuesday to accept an award at the Yoko Ono Grant for Peace awards in Iceland. (She wore the first for tea with Julian Assange on Monday evening.) Lady Gaga, Taylor Kinney latest news: Weight gain, sickness and pregnancy rumors (Video)

While Lady Gaga’s boyfriend Taylor Kinney is speaking out about the couple’s relationship in an October 10, 2012 USA Today article, her fans are discussing rumors that Gaga may be pregnant. Gaga and Kinney have kept a low profile on their relationship, but the star of the new NBC series “Chicago Fire” opened up about his feelings for Gaga in the interview. As Lady Gaga has recently been under the microscope for a 25-pound weight gain, and was filmed vomiting during a live performance in Barcelona, speculation is running rampant across social media networks that Lady Gaga is hiding a pregnancy.

Taylor Kinney confirms Lady Gaga Relationship

On October 10, 2012, AZ Central discussed Kinney coming public with his relationship with Gaga. The couple met in 2011 while filming the video for Gaga’s hit “You and I,” where he played her love interest. Though they broke up in May 2012, they reunited and remain a happy, strong couple, according to reports.

"I don't think I've ever said anything publicly up till now. But I'm happy. I'm in a relationship and I'm happy. Everything is great,” Kinney stated while speaking of his relationship with Lady Gaga.

Gaga’s fans, however, were aware of the relationship due to social media postings and photos showing the couple together. Now that the relationship has been officially confirmed, speculation has focused on Gaga’s recent weight gain and public sickness with some questioning whether Lady Gaga is pregnant.

Is Lady Gaga Pregnant?

On October 8, 2012, the IB Times directly asked the question whether Lady Gaga’s recent 25-pound weight gain and recent sickness on stage was a result of pregnancy. While the sickness has also prompted speculation that Gaga is lip-synching during her performances, more focus is geared towards whether Kinney and Gaga are with child. Speculation has even hinted that the reason Kinney is speaking about the couple’s relationship is due to a possible pregnancy announcement.

Lady Gaga hasn’t stated anything indicating the couple are expecting a child and in fact tweeted after the incident and included a video clip of the incident.

“Was praying nobody saw but actually its quite a good laugh if u need one! Check out Lady PukeGA doing Swan "Vomit" Lake.”

What do you think? Is Lady Gaga pregnant or was she simply feeling ill?

Lady Gaga Rallies Support for Boyfriend Taylor Kinney

Proving what a great girlfriend Lady Gaga is, she is using her star power to help promote Taylor Kinney’s new series “Chicago Fire.” We’re certain NBC appreciates the gesture as Gaga has more than 30 million Twitter followers.

Gaga tweeted on October 10, 2012, “My bf Taylor is on TV TONIGHT!!! for the premiere of CHICAGO FIRE on NBC at 10/9c in America. Monsters, wanna watch it with me+chat online?”

Gaga’s request to watch the show then chat with her about it is genius. What do you think? Will “Chicago Fire” have a record-breaking premiere due to Lady Gaga’s support? Do you think the fact that both Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney are going public with their relationship may indicate there’s more to the pregnancy talk than just rumors?

Gaga visits Julian Assange

London - Lady Gaga paid a surprise visit to Julian Assange yesterday (09.10.12).

The 'Born This Way' singer showed her support for the WikiLeaks founder by stopping off at the Ecuadorian embassy in London, where he has been living since June.

Gaga was nearby at department store Harrods promoting her new fragrance The Fame when rapper M.I.A. tweeted her, suggesting: "If ur at harrods today, come visit Assange at the Ecuador embassy across the st. im there. ill bring TEA and CAKE. (sic)"

Assange is claiming asylum at the embassy to avoid extradition after facing rape and sexual assault allegations from two women in Sweden, and he fears extradition to America for publishing sensitive diplomatic information online if he were to return to Sweden.

Gaga stayed in the embassy chatting with the WikiLeaks mastermind for five hours over a private dinner, and finally emerged at midnight to pose for a photo with the fugitive.

The image - which shows Gaga clad head-to-toe in black and wearing a wide-brimmed pointy hat - was uploaded to her official website www.littlemonsters.com with the caption, "no headline".

The 26-year-old star's fans have been widely supportive of her decision to visit Assange, praising the singer for making a statement in support of freedom of speech.

Gaga - real name Stefani Germanotta - has backed several political campaigns in the past, most notably gay rights in America which recently won her the LennonOno Grant For Peace award. - Bang Showbiz

Lady Gaga supports Yoko Ono's anti-fracking drive

LADY GAGA has thrown her support behind YOKO ONO's efforts to stop controversial drilling techniques in the natural gas industry and urged her fans to sign a petition to end fracking in her native New York state.

John Lennon's widow and her son Sean recently launched a celebrity coalition called Artists Against Fracking, which aims to put an end to the gas extraction technique which critics claim can poison water supplies with dangerous chemicals.

Gaga has now publicly backed Ono's drive and encouraged her supporters to add their signatures to a petition addressed to New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo.

The singer plans to discuss the issue with Ono when she is presented with the LennonOno Grant For Peace award at a special ceremony in Reykjavik, Iceland on Tuesday (09Oct12) to mark what would have been the late Beatles star's 72nd birthday.

In a post on her Littlemonsters.com website, Gaga writes, "Hey!!! I'm gonna see Yoko tomorrow and this organization is really important to her and interesting www.artistsagainstfracking.com. If you read up on 'fracking' this might be of interest. For those of you concerned in environmental affairs..."

Ono's campaign has previously drawn support from Hollywood stars including Leonardo DiCaprio, Uma Thurman and Gwyneth Paltrow, as well as The Strokes and Sir Paul McCartney.

Lady Gaga spends quality time with Julian Assange at Ecuadorian Embassy in London

Lady Gaga visits Jullian Assange

Lady Gaga paid a visit to Julian Assange at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London on Monday, spending five hours with the WikiLeaks founder.

Though it was unclear what the pair talked about, Gaga didn’t make her visit a secret. A photo posted on the pop star’s website shows the unlikely duo posing together. Gaga donned a witch’s hat, and Assange, who has taken asylum at the embassy, was dressed in a white T-shirt.

The two also reportedly shared a meal. Gaga emerged from the embassy after midnight, more than five hours after first entering the compound, The Telegraph reported.

Lady Gaga was in London to promote her new perfume, Fame, at Harrods.  The department store is close to the embassy in the posh Knightsbridge section.

Rapper M.I.A. tweeted at Gaga “If ur at harrods today, come visit Assange at the Ecuador embassy across the st. im there. Ill bring TEA and CAKE.”

An embassy spokeswoman confirmed Lady Gaga had visited, but did not know whether M.I.A. had been there as well, the Telegraph reported.

Julian Assange’s celebrity backers, already down $318K in bail money, may lose even more

Assange took asylum at the embassy in June as English authorities prepared to send him to Sweden, where he is wanted for rape charges dating back to 2010.
He has adamantly denied the accusations, which he says are an effort to undermine him and his whistle-blowing work at WikiLeaks.
