Lady Gaga visits Jullian Assange

Lady Gaga paid a visit to Julian Assange at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London on Monday, spending five hours with the WikiLeaks founder.

Though it was unclear what the pair talked about, Gaga didn’t make her visit a secret. A photo posted on the pop star’s website shows the unlikely duo posing together. Gaga donned a witch’s hat, and Assange, who has taken asylum at the embassy, was dressed in a white T-shirt.

The two also reportedly shared a meal. Gaga emerged from the embassy after midnight, more than five hours after first entering the compound, The Telegraph reported.

Lady Gaga was in London to promote her new perfume, Fame, at Harrods.  The department store is close to the embassy in the posh Knightsbridge section.

Rapper M.I.A. tweeted at Gaga “If ur at harrods today, come visit Assange at the Ecuador embassy across the st. im there. Ill bring TEA and CAKE.”

An embassy spokeswoman confirmed Lady Gaga had visited, but did not know whether M.I.A. had been there as well, the Telegraph reported.

Assange took asylum at the embassy in June as English authorities prepared to send him to Sweden, where he is wanted for rape charges dating back to 2010.
He has adamantly denied the accusations, which he says are an effort to undermine him and his whistle-blowing work at WikiLeaks.
